TFNation have announced their next guest for TFNation 2017. Joining TFNation 2017 is the man, the legend, Mr Simon Furman!
If Bob Budiansky is the father of Transformers, then Simon Furman is that favorite pre-school teacher who helped your parents shape the kind of person you grew up into. Starting out with Marvel UK, he would write some of the greatest and most epic Transformers stories of all time, such as Target: 2006 and Time Wars. And when Bob Budiansky did hand over the reins on the US Marvel series, it was to Simon, who gave us the incredible finale to the original Marvel run. But Simon’s legacy with Transformers does not end there, with his more recent writing credits including Generation 2, Armada and Energon for Dreamwave, as well as much of the early material published for IDW and Transformers Regeneration 1. And, lest we forget, Simon Furman is also credited with writing the finale of the Beast Wars series, with Nemesis Part 2.
A simple paragraph cannot do justice to all of Simon Furman’s contributions to the Transformers canon. He took Unicron, a villain with a limited backstory, and established him as a major demonic driving force in the origin of the Transformers – indeed, it is Simon Furman who helped to write what is now commonly accepted as the origin of Transformers. Other elements, such as The 13, also had their start in Simon’s work. And all of this is to say nothing of what Simon has done outside of Transformers, such as his recent project, To The Death.
TFNation 2017 will be taking place over the weekend of August 11 – 13, 2017, at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in Birmingham in the UK. Simon will be joined by his fellow Transformers creator and Marvel comics writer Bob Budiansky, writer James Roberts, artists Alex Milne, Kei Zama, Sara Pitre-Durocher and Jack Lawrence, colorists Josh Perez and John-Paul Bove, and voice actor guests including Venus Terzo (Beast Wars Blackarachnia), Hal Rayle (Generation 1 Snarl and Shrapnel), and Maggie Roswell (Maude Flanders). Check out the TFNation homepage for more information.
